I’ve heard this word on countless discussion boards and blogs, as well as on television programs. It is more of a metaphorical word for the chemistry between two people. More specifically I have heard this word in reference to hot celebrity couples (Brad & Jen). I use it more as slang in gossiping about the potential or blossoming relationships between friends.
