a party where computer games are played A lan, or lan party, is a gathering in which gamers bring their computers, hook them up to a network, and play computer games. A lan usually starts out in the afternoon or evening and ends the next morning. Sometimes competitions may be held with prizes for the winners. Lans usually involve the drinking of large amounts of caffeine, especially in the form of Mountain Dew, so that participants do not become tired.
