Meridian

noun; zero derivation
A person's significant other. Apparent meaning: a person's significant other Analysis of word: mer 'part' plus id 'self' plus -ian 'characterized by.' Together, this means characterized by the slitting or parting of the self, often in two, creating the original definition, noon. This led to the astronomical definition of a great circle splitting the sky in two. This has now shifted, through metaphor, to become a person who lies in the center of one’s life (or metaphorical sky). Possible reason used: the person may have wanted a fairly metaphorical and geeky way to refer to his girlfriend

You are my meridian.
Etymology : G. mer 'part' plus id 'self' plus -ian 'characterized by'
Source : overheard conversation between a friend and his girlfriend
