Fob

noun; acronym
Acronym for Fresh off the Boat; a term used to describe Asians who have not fully assimilated into American society Fob is an acronym for “Fresh off the Boat.” A somewhat derogatory term used to describe an Asian who has not managed to fully assimilate into American society and who still retains many of his or her traditional customs. This person may or may not have been born in an Asian country. Can also be used as an adjective, such as “fobby;” however, it would seem rather inappropriate and silly if a non-Asian were to use this term. The term is used in informal settings in order to generalize certain types of Asians who have not adapted to American culture.

Friend stated that she did not want to date a certain Vietnamese boy because he was a fob.
