A prostitute With over 250 dialects spoken in Nigeria, there has been an influx of a variety of native words in daily Nigerian Pidgin Languages. With Yoruba being one of the 3 major languages spoken, numerous Yoruba words have been adopted into Nigerian Pidgin. “Asewo” is one of those words and it used by teenagers, but mostly by adults when condoning a particular type or dressing or gesture. A mother can say, “You’re not walking out of the house dressed like that, you look like an asewo.”
Etymology : Derived from Yoruba, a language spoken in western Nigeria.
