wochnight or wochman

noun; clipping
A guard or night watchman Wochnight is derived from night watchman in the English language. It maintains the same meaning, a night guard or night watchman. But as a result of clipping the words are flipped or change position and night is omitted. Watch comes before the night and it becomes wochnight. Night guards or Night watchmen are extremely popular in Nigeria, especially in Lagos. Most people who can afford guards, which is the Nigerian middle class have at least one “wochnight” to help open and close the main gate of the house. Sometimes it is used interchangeably with “meguard.”

“Please tell the wochnight not to open the gate for anybody.”
Etymology : Originates from the night watchman in the English language.
