- "... kind of ad-hoc; kind of a kludge."
kludge
noun;
An awkward workaround used to solve to a problem. A kludge is a technique that, even though it may solve the problem at hand, it is very inelegant and undesirable. Kludge is a slang word used most often by computer science majors or people heavily interested in computers. It is likely to be unknown outside of the field of computers. This word was evidently borrowed from German because English was lacking an equivalent term.
Etymology : Borrowing from German kluge [< ironic use of earlier kluge ‘smart, clever’ < spelling pronunciation of German kluge, < Middle High German kluc, < Middle Low German klok.] (American Heritage Dictionary)
