Fubar

noun; acronym
[Fucked Up Beyond All Recognition]. Under the influence of alcohol or drugs such that one is greatly impaired by the chemical substance in one’s body. This word allows one to concisely describe a state of extreme drunkenness, instead of indicating degree of intoxication by using qualifying adjectives such as “very,” or “extremely”. In addition, one might possibly be able to acknowledge that one was “fubar” in a public setting of adults without those adults understanding that “fubar” refers to shameful behavior. Fubar actually has several different meanings as an acronym. It originated in the military to stand for the words "fucked up beyond all repair," which then changed to the less vulgar "fouled up beyond all repair" in reference to hardware. This also changed to "fouled up beyond all recognition." The “r” in “fubar” may also stand for “recovery,” “reconciliation,” or “reason.” As a reference to drunkenness, fubar is college-student slang (or possibly not slang, if people are proud of getting drunk).
