HI-DEE

220; sound symbolism
Hi there. Possible reason used: The speaker has created a short form for a greeting. It is common to do so. “Howdy” is another example of a shortened greeting. “Hi-dee” is short and cute.

A cousin of mine is always saying “hi-dee” when he sees someone.
Etymology : HI-DEE means ‘hi there.’ HI-DEE comes from the familiar word “hi” and the shortened form “dee” for “there.”
