hip
verb; zero derivation
To expose someone to something “cool” that they are unfamiliar with If the friend who first said 'hip' had only said “exposing” instead of “hipping” he wouldn’t have gotten the connotations of coolness, which shows how the gamer views the role-playing games. It also shows the irony of the gamer’s attitude since, in most circles, gaming is considered terminally unhip.
Etymology : hip. Zero derivation of “hip” (in the know; with it)
