drunk dial

noun; compounding
A phone call made in an inebriated state. As is well known, being drunk greatly reduces one’s ability to reason and judge. Feelings of elation or depression are often amplified by alcohol, and mixing that fact with the ability to communicate anytime and anywhere thanks with the ubiquity of cell phones inevitably leads to the modern phenomenon of the drunk dial. Though neither word in the phrase is new, its existence marks a definite societal evolution.

My ex-girlfriend drunk dialed me last night. She said she hated me and never wanted to talk to me again, and then told me to call her later. How typical.
Etymology : drunk dial. Novel formation; from English words drunk + dial.
