- Forget discriminating people based on their race, religion, [or] gender...it’s all about playlistism. That’s right, judging people by their iTunes playlist.
Playlistism
noun; blending and clipping
Judging an individual based on what songs he/she has on his/her iTunes or other digital music player. A playlist is a list of music files (songs) compiled for broadcast on a radio station, or for personal enjoyment on Winamp, iTunes, and other music programs. In the world of music, one's playlist is becoming increasingly associated with his/her identity. The term playlistism is primarily associated with music snobs, a group of individuals who are highly picky in their taste of music and judgmental of others'. The word formed with an -ism ending to reflect a similar act of judgment that occurs in racism and sexism.
Etymology : playlistism. Clipping/blend of play (Latin lud 'play, make sport of') + list (Old Italian lista 'list') + (rac/sex)-ism ('N' for judgment of)
