Belter

noun; derivation
A person associated with an asteroid belt for purposes of residence, employment, or political allegiance. Interpretation of intended meaning: A human or alien born in, living in, or working in an asteroid belt, as distinct from one whose primary allegiances lie with a planet or spaceship. Presumed reason for coinage: No word is currently needed, outside science fiction, to differentiate among planet-bound people and occupations and space-based ones.

Belters tended to be tall and skinny.
Etymology : 'belt' (ring of asteroids) + 'er' (occupational ending)
Source : various science fiction within the last 20-30 years
