testilie

verb; blending
to commit perjury In the specific context used, the word seems to carry an undercurrent of deceptiveness that is perhaps not present with perjury. Whereas perjury may be the responsibility of a witness alone, the act of testilieing occurs at the behest of counsel. I got the feeling that the screenwriters would have used the word perjury, but wanted to make the dialog more interesting, so they coined a new word for the occasion. This is the only time I have heard this word; as far as I can tell, the screenwriters for Law & Order coined it when they wrote the script (though the formation seems obvious enough that it has no doubt been used before).

I won’t have my witnesses testilie.
