A lot of money. A billion dollars The prefix giga- meaning one billion is added to the word bucks meaning dollars to make a single word that means ‘one billion dollars’. The word gigabucks is generally used to simply mean a lot of money.
 
The school does not want to spend the gigabucks necessary for that idea to happen.
