Used simply to end discussion on a topic. It doesn’t matter, never mind, etc… This is a similar word to “Def” in that it is formed by clipping a word merely to make it short and easier to say. The meaning of whatev is identical to its larger counterpart, whatever. It was most likely coined as a way of being different while producing a word that is easier to say.
