Someone who uses a poor connection to the internet to play online games (esp. Quake) and complains when he feels it is affecting his performance. This was the first time I encountered this word; I have since gotten a good sense of its meaning. I imagine it was coined some time in the fall of 1997, and originated on internet Quake servers. Notes Laggot is without doubt a strong insult; laggots are quite intolerable. Laggot comes from a blending of ‘lag’ (the definition of which is considered separately; see immediately above) and ‘faggot.’ Its meaning takes its specificity from the ‘lag’ and its derisiveness from ‘faggot’, which is here used as a general insult referring to someone who whines (unfortunately). This word is not widely used, but it has found a niche in the Quake community.
