to remove offensive materials, as from a dorm room, in preparation for a visit by one’s parents Presumed reason for coinage Quick framing of a concept familiar to most college students. Suffix -ize usually implies a sharp or complete transformation, which makes the word somewhat amusing in usage.
 
I didn’t have time to parentize the room, so I think my mom saw the gin bottles.
Etymology : par 'birth, generation' + -ent 'one who' + -ize 'make, transform into'
