1. Drinking with the express intent of getting drunk Upon finding her roommate passed out on a couch at a party, my friend commented that she must’ve been drunking. She marked the difference here between what was apparently the girl’s normal habit, drinking and sometimes ending up drunk, and what she had done tonight, which was drink great amounts of alcohol non-socially just to become intoxicated.
 
She must’ve been out drunking.
