Renice

verb; zero derivation
To prioritize processes on a computing system. The command renice arranges various processes on a computer network according to priorities determined by software and hardware settings; when it enters the language as a valid English word, RENICE implies human involvement a little bit more than just the raw computer command.

[The technical thug] writes a suite of scripts to monitor processes, maintain a database of CPU usage, identify processes more than a standard deviation over the norm, and renice offending processes.
