Hypotenize

verb; analogy
To take a shortcut by traversing a path consisting of the longest leg of a right triangle. Apparent meaning: to take a shortcut, i.e. to traverse a 'hypotenuse' of two paths at right angles.
 
Let's hypotenize across here, I'm in a hurry.
Etymology : new derivation, fr. 'hypo' (under) + 'ten' (stretch) + 'ize' (verb suffix)
