tag-team

verb; compounding
to informally create ad-hoc teams (or gang up on another player) in a game where each player is supposed to be playing independently. Combines the “informal” meaning of “tag” (i.e. “tag-along”) with team. Much shorter than an equivlent phrase (“form informal teams”)

One person complains about tag-teaming when the other three people (playing a 4-person video game) seemed to be ganging up on him.
