gruel

noun; blending
A combination of the words ‘great’ and ‘cool’, gruel retains the meanings of both words. It means very good, neat or interesting. In the movie the character is invited to a party by a guy she really likes, and means to say ‘great’ but changes her word at the last minute to ‘cool’, and thus ‘gruel is created. Another character then continues to use it, so it becomes a word, not merely a misspeak.

(in reference to an invitation to a party being extended) “Gruel!”
Etymology : blend
