earworm

noun; compounding
A song (the tune/lyrics) that repeats over and over inside a person's head, usually refers to after the song has stopped playing. This is a creative metaphorical compound neologism. The word allows the speaker to provide an image to supplement the definition of the new word. Imagine a worm crawling through one's ear into the very depths of your mind. Not only that, but it seems like there is no way to get it out. This feeling is precisely what one experiences when a song gets "stuck" in one's head. The tune or lyrics continue to bombard your thoughts and often you to actually sing or hum the song to release it in some form. The song therefore becomes this earworm that usually doesn't leave one's mind easily or quickly.
