Phosphatase

noun;
Any substance or enzyme that catalyzes the removal of a phosphate group (made up of a phosphorous atom and multiple oxygen atoms) from a molecule.
 
The reaction done by the protein kinase can be reversed if a phosphatase is added.
Etymology : phosphate fr. French phosphorique ‘phosphoric’ + Lat. -ate ‘nom. sing. masc.’ + Fr. (diast)-ase ‘enzyme, destroying substance’
