Computer software that makes advertisements open on computers that the computer operator cannot control Apparent meaning: Computer software that causes advertising windows to open on the computer without the consent of the user. Type of word formation: Blend of ‘advertisement ’ and ‘software’. Possible reason used: Used to describe computer software that is added to a computer unbeknownst to the owner that opens windows on the computer that have advertisements for various different products/services/websites. There was no word prior that precisely described this type of software.
