In these situations, the EMT’s pick up the patient, put the patient into the back of the ambulance as quickly as possibly and drive quickly or ‘haul ass’ to the hospital. Type of word formation: Acronym of Pick Up and Haul Ass. Possible reason used: Shortened way to express that the patient needed to be loaded into the ambulance and taken quickly to the hospital.
