Gelatinize

verb;
Hardening, or more technically speaking, polymerizing of a liquid substance into something more solid. This word conveys the idea of forming a gel. It is a word composed of more common elements than ‘polymerize,’ a more technical word that means essentially the same thing, ‘gelatinize’ may be understood by a wider audience. Also, the suffix ‘-ize’ is so common in the English language that it seems almost subliminally natural for one to just add it to a noun to form a verb.

Don’t eat it yet, it’s still gelatinizing.
Etymology : “gelatin” (a compound of mixed consistency between a solid and liquid) “-ize” (verb-forming suffix)
