Refers to a shift towards more tabloids, or tabloid-type news, by the media apparent meaning: media selling more 'tabloid'-type news, as opposed to 'broadsheet' news. The speaker was referring to a trend in the media towards more 'tabloid'-type news (usually sensationalistic news, often not true), than conventional 'broadsheet' news
 
There has been a marked tabloidification of the Indian media over the last few years
