Shady

adjective; derivation
To have a dark appearance or character; to have evil tendencies The term shady is used to describe a person or place which has a questionable character or appearance. Possible reason used: Shady is a concise term easily understood because of its metaphorical connection with the word shade. Shade means out of the light and in a dark area. To be shady, is to have a dark demeanor or appearance which is why it is used many times to describe places in urban areas after dark. Shady can also describe businesses which are illegal, such as selling drugs on the streets. This term is so well known also because it is a nickname of rapper Eminem aka “Slim Shady.”
