bleeding-edge

adjective; derivation
Advanced cutting edge technology. Intended Meaning: advanced cutting edge technology Analysis: Play on the adjective leading-edge with a /b/ inserted at the beginning. The first part bleeding also brings to mind the adjective cutting edge. All adjectives have similar meanings. Possible Reason Used: The professors are always telling the students that we are on the forefront of object-oriented programming, that the stuff we learn in their classroom is not seen anywhere else in the world. To illustrate this idea, they decided to stray from the norm and use the adjective bleeding-edge, probably thinking of the more common cutting-edge or leading-edge when they said it.
