Romp

other word formation type Euphemism (represents "sexual activity"); noun; other word formation type Possibly Narrowing as well
Romp, N Sexual Intercourse [Euphemism formed from narrowing in meaning of root 'romp']

Used as a euphemism for 'sexual activity'.
Etymology : The word romp is generally seen as a noun, meaning 'lively, boisterous play'. Odds are that it has narrowed its definition to mean “very lively sexual play.” It also shows some evidence of euphemism, disguising the words sexual intercourse from a public library (iTunes) viewable to anyone. Again, using this word in this context was likely the company’s attempt to mask the sexuality of the meaning, something that may attract the older people looking at the description, as they would catch on to the meaning, but at the same time not risk exposing the definition to a younger-aged person. The original word romp possibly has roots in Anglo-Norman ramper meaning 'to scramble'. A tense change and a shift in part of speech to a noun followd (OED).
