Schwasted

adjective; blending and clipping
Schwasted, Adj Really drunk [Apparent clipping of root shitfaced and blending with root wasted]

Schwasted is used to describe a person who is very drunk, and the choice of two roots that mean 'drunk' by themselves suggests an emphasis be placed on the blend between the two.
Etymology : This word has become pretty common among college-aged kids. It seems to be a combination of 'shit-faced' and 'wasted', both of which have come to mean 'drunk,' with etymologies of their own. The compound root 'shitfaced' was clipped to 'sh', and then may have shown phonological assimilation in the insertion of the 'c'. The group /sch/ allows the sound to better blend phonetically with the /w/ at the start of 'wasted'. The two are then blended to form the blend. Shitfaced has come to describe someone who is also drunk, that they are 'poorly faced' or 'out of it'. Wasted means 'drunk' as well, possibly coming from the person's inability to function properly, that their talents have been 'wasted', ie they no longer able to accomplish an ability. Shitfaced involves a compound in its own, with shit, from OE scite meaning 'dung' and face, from French face. Wasted is from Old French Wast, meaning 'waste or desert land' (OED).
