Rude

adjective; Semantic change, melioration
having the characteristics of being fashionable or "cool"

I first heard this word over the summer while playing the Nancy Drew computer game with my girlfriend. One of the character's in the game was a famous fashion designer and would use the word "Rude" as a synonym for "cool" or "fashionable." After hearing this both of use continue to use the word in this sense. This word underwent melioration. It went from a negative meaning to a positive one. This word may be used in this way simply because it is a trendy thing to do.
Etymology : from Latin. Rudis "unwrought, unformed, inexperienced"
