dropbear

noun; compounding
Australia’s most dangerous creature; a mutated koala bear that drops down from the trees and eats you unless you take proper precautions. Australians’ way of having fun with poor, unsuspecting tourists. Australia has so many dangerous creatures that most tourists who visit, especially those that are going into nature as we were, are afraid of all the snakes, spiders, dingoes, etc, that can kill them. Australians have decided to have a little bit of fun with this and create their own creature that beats all the others. It’s a koala that has mutated into a carnivore and hides in the trees, waiting to drop on unsuspecting tourists and attack. The only way to avoid dropbears is to walk underneath trees with your arms up in a point above your head, so if they land on you, they slide right off. Another version of the dropbear that we saw was a giant polar bear (the mascot for Bundaberg rum) that hides in trees in commercials.

You better watch out for the dropbears because they are Australia’s most dangerous animal!
