- Testosterone poisoning compounds testosterone and poisoning, as a metaphor from a phrase such as alcohol poisoning. In this case though, testosterone would be the possibly lethal factor instead of alcohol, making petty rivalries become quite dangerous. Both use poisoning as a way of expressing large amounts of the liquid/hormone in question.
testosterone poisoning
noun; compounding testosterone + poisoning = testosterone poisoning
testosterone poisoning, n. the rivalry when two males both believe himself to be the better male
Etymology : Testosterone is the male sex hormone from German Testosteron (1935), coined from Latin testis "testicle" + ster(ol) + chemical ending -one. Poison comes from 'a deadly potion,' from Old French puison (12c.) 'a drink,' later 'a potion, poisonous drink' (14c.), from Latin potionem (nom. potio) 'a drink,' also 'poisonous drink,' from potare 'to drink.'
