slice

noun; clipping
A fruity cake-like dessert with a crushed biscuit and coconut base, covered in icing. This seems to be another example of the Australians’ ability to clip most words in their language. A slice is actually a certain kind of cake, but they find it much easier to call it a ‘slice’ rather than a ‘slice of iced cake with a coconut base.’

Would you like a slice for dessert?
