sudoku

verb; zero derivation
to work out sudoku puzzles, a new form of crosswords with numbers in squares that originated in Japan. Sudoku was originally named so because it is descriptive of what the puzzles actually are in the country they originated in, Japan. In the last year, it has swept the world (and its newspapers), and new addicts have found that saying “Do you Sudoku?” is much easier than saying “Do you do Sudoku puzzles?” Now, the word is synonymous with working out the puzzles as much as the puzzles themselves.
