mod(1)

verb; clipping
to modify (usually for the better); to alter the form or characteristics of

This term is usually used in reference to changing the form of objects, physical items. It is a short form of the original verb "modify" by saving only the first syllable and clipping the rest of the word part. It can even replace the past tense of the original verb (i.e. modified) by following the typical rule of adding the -ed suffix. In this way, the clipped word "moded" can replace the original word "modified". In addition, the word is usually used when the alterations to the object will improve performance.
Etymology : Derived from the verb 'modify', which in turn is from Old French 'modifier'.
