Rofl pwn comes from an acronym and typo. The acronym is of “rolling on the floor laughing” while pwn comes from a typo of own. This word is related to both rofl and pwn. The term is used as a more severe form of pwn because instead of just “owning” the opponent, there is a component of others laughing at the outcome. The speaker coined the term because pwn had become too overused and a stronger term was needed to describe the situation. This term is generally used among online gamers, even outside of the games they play online.
