- 'Obama-con' does not refer to just any conservative supporter of Obama; it specifically is in reference to the support of what has come to be known as the 'neocon' movement. The most important distinguishing factor between the two as far as its application to 'Obama-con' is that neocons support the current War on Terror and are in favor of expanding it. The word thus serves to highlight the similarity between the two political parties.
