Duss

clipping; verb; slang
(v) To insult or belittle. Usually in a loss in any type of situation.

Clipped from the word "dust" which was clipped from the phrase "bite the dust". This term is only clipped in pronunciation as the 't' at the end of the word was dropped. Where as "bite the dust" referred usually to losing in a race, the definition of "duss" was widened to include any losses, even in the figurative sense. For example if one were to get a unusually hefty load in the workplace then they are considered to have been "dussed" by their boss.
Etymology : "Duss" was clipped from the word "dust". From the Middle and Old English "Dust" (pre-vowel shift).
