Eurabia

noun; blending
name given to Europe, referring to the social and political changes resulting in the increasing Muslim population and influence in Europe

Eurabia is a pejorative term used to describe present or future Europe. It is a blending of Europe and Arabia (representing the Arab world). The term has come into use recently in light of the increasing Muslim population in Europe, as well as Europe’s changing political climate resulting from the influence of Islam. The term is used in a negative context in the United States, as Europe’s Muslim population and political influence from Islam are seen as anti-American, especially because of ongoing American efforts in the Middle East against Islam. Some see it is anti-Christian and anti-Jewish, all adding to the use of the term. The term is also used to describe what some see as the future of Europe- to be completely taken over by Muslims and run under the laws of Islam.
Etymology : Eurabia is a blending of Europe and Arabia. Europe is from the Latin Europa meaning ‘Europe’, from Greek Europe meaning ‘broad face’, from eurys meaning ‘wide’ and ops meaning ‘face’. Arab comes from the Old French word Arabe, from the Latin word Arabs, from the Greek word Araps, from the Arabic word arab, meaning ‘inhabitant of the desert’. The suffix –ia on arab is from Greek, which indicates ‘country, territory’.
Source : “In contrast, Eurabia — which asserts that the Islamicization of Europe didn’t happen merely by accident but with the active participation of European political leaders — is hardly ever referred to at all, despite the fact that it is easier to document.” -Baron Bodissey in Gates of Vienna Blogsopt, October 2008.
