gmail

noun; blending and clipping
The Google Corporation’s highly popular and free webmail service.

It is probable that Google took advantage of the fact that the letter “g” rhymes with the “e” that forms the word “email,” and so the corporation formed the word “gmail” to refer to their webmail. It is also possible that since the letter “g” is often used to refer to a friend (“What up G?”), Google attached “g” to the beginning to appeal to the public.
Etymology : A blend of the famous Google “G” and the second syllable clipped from the word “email."
