Paultard

blending and clipping; noun
A supporter of Ron Paul (R-TX) (derogatory term).

The coining of this word was perhaps motivated by the neologisms 'Paulites' and 'Paulistas' and was a back formation (and pejoration) of them (replacing the affix 'ite' or 'ista' with 'tard,' not a true affix itself). It almost surely traces it origins to a blog due to its informality and because Paul supporters (i.e. Paulites/Paulistas) were infamous for having spread pervasively over the Internet and being die-hard in their support. It is probably no accident that the false affix 'tard' (from 'retarded,' now colloquially meaning 'stupid') was chosen to blend because many people (of either political party, mainstream opinion or not) thought the views of Paul (and thus of his supporters) were so eccentric so as to be unforgivably naive and stupid or utterly ridiculous.
Etymology : A blending of the last name 'Paul' (from 'Ron Paul') with the clipping 'tard' from 'retard.' 'Retard' from from Latin 'retardationem.'
