The Crush

zero derivation Metonymy; noun
Used in Southern California to refer to the freeway exchange of three major freeways, the 5, the 57, and the 22, in the Orange County area. This exchange is notorious for traffic jams.

Let's not drive through the Crush this time; last time we did it, we had to wait half an hour in traffic that wouldn't move.
Etymology : The metonymy here refers to myriads of cars packing into the interchange, trying to squeeze out, comparing this to something being crushed.
