verb; derivation
to make happy or satisfactory; personification of what is becoming happy Coined on the spur of the moment to describe coming to the correct answer to a homework problem; the data can’t be happy but it can be correct and therefore described as being happy. This also describes the state of mind of the student when his homework problem is correct and happy, due to the positive correlation between the degree of correctness of the homework, the grade on the assignment, and the degree of happiness of the student.

Etymology : happ(y) from Middle English hap 'luck' + i 'linker' + fy 'V'
