a young, female socialite who is famous for the fact that she is rich or has famous parents VH1, as a leading fashion, music, and celebrity news broadcasting station must always keep on top of the latest trends and hottest young stars. As a result of this, they coin new words to concisely describe the goings-on of celebrity high society. Celebutante describes a young female adult who is somewhat new in the press and is famous because she is famous: from wealth or notable parents.

Etymology : celeb(rity) from Latin celebrits 'famous' + (deb)utante from French débutante 'to begin'
