jiggery-pokery

noun;
something that seems random or pulled out of mid-air It seems that this word was pulled out of mid-air to refer to math derivations that seem randomly chosen; it’s a very appropriate term in that respect.

This may just look like a bunch of algebraic jiggery-pokery
Etymology : application has absolutely nothing to do with its morphemes (jigg/er and poke/er); see discussion
