- We were hungry at 3:00 this morning, so we went to Mickey D's for Big Mac's.
Mickey D's
noun derivation
slang for the fast food chain McDonald's. Mickey D's has essentially the same meaning as McDonald's, but is often said in a more joking or humorous way. I think the term was formed because McDonald's has become such a big part of American culture that people have started giving it affectionate nicknames, but in a sarcastic way.
Etymology : derived from McDonald's, a fast food chain.
